Step 1: Introduce the New Box for Sniff Tests

Let your cat get up close and personal with their new litter box. Take out the waste bin and let them sniff around. Cats are naturally curious and cautious, so give them time to figure out that this new thing is safe and friendly.
cat-litter-box-svgrepo-com

Step 2: Place New Box Next to Old One

Set the new, turned-off litter box right beside the old one. This is your cat's chance to get comfortable with its new neighbor. You'll know you're on the right track when your cat either ignores the new box or continues using the old one without any issues.
auto-focus-svgrepo-com

Step 3: Run Self-Cleaning Feature for Acclimation

Now, let the new box show off its self-cleaning moves a few times a day. Your cat might be a bit startled by the new sounds at first, but they'll get used to it. Think of it as a getting-used-to-new-sounds phase.
cat-litter-sand-svgrepo-com

Step 4: Add Litter But Keep Self-Cleaning Off

Once your cat seems okay with the new sounds, go ahead and fill the new box with litter. But keep the self-cleaning feature turned off for now. Let your cat explore this new setup without any moving parts.
black-cat-svgrepo-com

Step 5: Turn On Self-Cleaning and Praise Your Cat

Finally, activate the self-cleaning feature when your cat uses the new box and give them some praise or a small treat. This positive reinforcement will help your cat associate the new box with good vibes. Keep the old box around until your cat is fully comfortable with the new one.

A life changing litter box !!

The PETKIT Pura Max 2 has been a game-changer for me and my two indoor cats. From the moment I set it up, they took to it instantly, which was a huge relief. Living in a flat, one of my biggest concerns was cat odour, but this litter box has completely resolved that issue. My home stays fresh, and I no longer have to worry about unpleasant smells. One of the best features is the waste disposal system—I only need to change the waste bag every 5 to 6 days. This has made my life so much easier compared to scooping several times a day. The automation and efficiency of the Pura Max 2 have truly improved my daily routine.I also highly recommend the premium package. The included litter mat is very effective at catching litter tracking (I use BioKats Diamond cat litter), helping to keep my floors clean. The smart spray deodoriser also makes a noticeable difference in keeping the litter box smelling fresh. The cleaning process, while initially seeming daunting due to the size of the litter box, turned out to be surprisingly quick and easy. I do a deep clean once a month, and that’s enough to keep the box fresh and hygienic for my kitties.I did run into an issue with Amazon, but unfortunately, they weren’t able to offer much help. However, PETKIT’s customer service was outstanding! They assigned me an appointee who handled my issue seamlessly and efficiently. Their excellent service has only reinforced my confidence in the brand.Overall, I highly recommend the PETKIT Pura Max 2. It keeps my cats happy, my flat odour-free, and my life so much easier. If you’re considering an automatic litter box, this is absolutely worth the investment!

Good quality but opened

Package of 5 rolls. I think all the bags were there - I didn't count every one on every roll. The package came opened with only two rolls still inside the cellophane wrapping. One roll was unrolled in the box, and the other two were just hanging out in the box. As far as quality - they are the same ones I ordered before, and they are good bags that fit the litterbox.

Brilliant for Multicat households

So pleased I bought this. Such a time saver. Kitties love it. We had no trouble getting them to use it so we were lucky. Have used clay litter but are now trialing tofu. Tofu is certainly cleaner and machine smells better. We have two cats and probably have to empty litter bin every 2-3 days.

Life changer

I ummed and ahhed over this for weeks because of the price. It has honestly been a life changer. My house smells so much better and it's such a treat not scooping the litter box 4 times a days.I have two ragdolls who eat a lot which of course means they poop a lot. I have to change the bag approximately every 4 to 5 days.I hand on heart would recommend this magical device to any cat owner who loves their cat but hates the smell of their toilet habits.

Not like the robot litterbox—No smells ! SILENT.

As a kid in the mid-2000s, my mom got a robot litterbox. We were busy with all our kid activities and it was hard to keep up on the litterbox to prevent smells. That thing was awful! The top was open, there was inefficient scooping, and it wasn't always working correctly. It required special litter and really left me with an impression that hand scooping was not only easier but way cheaper too. Well, now I am a busy working mom and find myself with a cat who manages to produce an impressive amount of smelly waste. I was having that same trouble of keeping up with the litterbox. It felt like if I waited a day and a half due to my schedule, it stunk up the whole house. And since he's getting older and about 7 months now (cannot use this box younger than 6 months it says), his #2 will knock you out anywhere in the house if you are home. The robot litter box seemed appealing. I was very skeptical based on my previous experience. I did not want to pay an insane amount of money ($800) for the one advertised on social media nor did I want to buy the litterbox that looked like the same one my mom had gotten 20 years ago. I wanted something that worked for my wallet and for scooping. THIS IS IT. I decided on the larger drum and I'm glad I did. My cat is not yet full grown but he likes a spacious litter box. Hopefully he manages those expectations as he gets to his adult size, but if you have a cat who is on the larger side (length), make sure you spring for the larger drum size. It does set a weight limit so this may not work for your chonker or large potat cat. The litterbox is roughly the same size as a regular litterbox with lid, but it is larger. It won't take up too much more floor space though. It does need to be set away from the wall (5cm, so not much) because of the rotation of the drum. Not a big deal, but something I did not understand until I had the thing in my house. Also, the box it is shipped in is the perfect box fort for a child. It is a huge box! Huge! When the litterbox does do it's spin, the noise is so silent. In fact, yesterday my husband was home alone with the litterbox for the first time since we got it about a week ago. He says he had a slight sense of panic of "who's in the house" when he smelled some perfume because he did not hear the litterbox go but did smell the deodorizing mist. Quickly, this deodorizing spray is pleasant and not heavy. I am sensitive to smells but this is a nice one. I don't want to guarantee you will like it, but I would think you would have a hard time finding fault with it. As other reviews have said, the litter causes the most noise. The motor to move the drum is extremely quiet. You can be across the room by 10-15 ft and barely hear it- even next to it is quite quiet! Turn up volume on the video all the way... you cannot hear it moving and I am about 5 ft away. The litter does make noise, but we use the "lightweight" litter so it makes the softest swish noise. Highly recommend this combo as I can see how using a pellet or more traditional litter would cause the litter noise to be loud. The loudest part is when the clump of waste thumps it way into the garbage bin to the side. My cat is suspicious of robots. It took quite a bit of those puree treats to get him to kind of be ok with the litterbox. Then he held his little bladder until the next morning. Luckily I was home to encourage him to get in there the first time. He really hates the feeling of the included mat on his paws so we are still working on getting that set down. He would not go near the litter box with the mat also down so for now we are using just his old litter mat. You can see this in my video. Sorry for moving the camera view midvideo, but it was his first time using the box and I wasn't thinking about the cinematic debut. As others have said, it not only knows the weight of the cat but it also tracks the duration they spend to help inform you somehow. It might be important later, but it's just kind of funny for now. The app seems much smoother than other reviews have said. It does have a teeny ad space for more PetKit products in the corner, but it's easy to ignore. The app seems very intuitive and easy to use. I think even if you are not well verse in tech you will be fine. Just want to counter what the past reviews from last year point out. The app keeps track of how full the garbage is, the deodorizing liquid fill level, and the odor remover packet in the garbage as well as the bathroom habits of your pet. I also got an automatic feeder that easily links to it. I got their water fountain too, but mine is not smart like these other kinds, so it doesn't connect to the app really. It's kind of like a one stop app for all their "smart" products. Yes, there are features you might want to ignore, but overall I like the app. In unboxing, there is minimal assembly. I had to change the little interior mesh as it comes with the pellet size litter sifter installed (seen in the photo as orange, I realized what I needed to do after I got the deodorizer in there, that's the light you see). I figured that out at the end because that was not immediately clear to me. I am really impressed with all the little details. The litter box comes pretty much ready to go, but to finalize set up, you have to connect to the app and install the deodorizer/garbage bag. To aid you in this set up, there are stickers to remove all over. On the stickers are instructions on what you need to do. This is duplicated in the app with your set up. Trying to be fool proof but it's a nice touch for someone who stubbornly ignores instruction guides and goes for a "I'll figure this out without the app/booklet" (me). The litterbox has to be on a flat surface and the mat has to fit neatly at the edge so not even slightly tip it up. This is crucial for the weight/sensing. The garbage bags provided are likely about a half year supply but that depends on how many cats you have or how much they use the litter box. They are not expensive to purchase, but I think you could use something else. The issue is that it's like a mini kitchen bag and it is perfectly fitted to that garbage bin. Extra material is hard to hid and may interfere. The deodorizing thing is an attachment that goes on the inside. It comes with a couple way to install depending on the model you receive. Something I struggled with for 10 minutes was getting the batteries into the very cramped space. After I managed to get them in without harming myself or breaking anything, I realized they had a sticker on the side showing the order of how to put the batteries in so that they fit.. Just one of those touches! In set up, it wants to do an automatic spin. My suspicious cat was kind of nervous about it after seeing it move for the first time, so if I could go back, I might hide him in another room during set up and also set it to manual for the first week or so while he got used to using it. They send some extra materials and supplies, so do consider where you might stash them/keep them all together (as pictured, the weird stickers to 'personalize' the litter box). Also, the inside is a little cloth floor (you can see in my close up photo where the fill line is and where the cloth ends). They are clear on how to clean it if needed. They also state that you should not see smearing on the drum and if you do then you'll need to monitor the cause in your pet's diet. I would say that you may need to wipe the inside of the drum a little more often. At least for now, my cat is not the best at covering his urine with the space he thinks he needs to reach to kick around litter which means that sometimes the 1 minute of wait I have the cleaning set to start is not enough time to soak and the wet urine litter gets smeared on the drum. I think it kinda gets dry/falls or cleared on the next spin so not really a problem. Still experimenting with this, but just something you may want to consider in putting together your settings from the get go. Easy set up. Easy to use. All little pieces that fit to make this a very happy purchase and one that I recommend for everyone! I hope my essay helps. I did not mean to be long winded but I thought walking you through my thoughts and the process would be helpful to someone as I did not see some of these points brought up in other reviews and these are things that would have eased my mind when purchasing or made me hit the purchase button faster!

So nice I bought it twice! **READ IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH WEIGHT TRACKING/PEE LEAKS**

So I was super skeptical about this litter box, but since buying my initial Puramax, I've since purchased a second because I love this thing so much.We have 4 cats in our household, so we have two of these boxes. Normally you're supposed to have 1 litter box per cat + an additional one, but honestly, with how clean these stay, I think the two Puramaxes we have are perfect.IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BOX NOT TRACKING YOUR CAT'S WEIGHT AND BOX USEAGE IT MUST BE PLACED ON A HARD SURFACE. This feature will NOT work on carpet! It also specifies this in the instruction manual!I initially encountered this issue because one of the boxes is placed on our second floor where it's 100% carpeted, but I slid an appropriately sized piece of plexiglass under it and now it's recording the weights and usage times perfectly.I also haven't had any issues with urine collecting underneath the barrel, and I believe I have figured out why so many people might've had this issue:All of our cats are female, and male cats have a tendency to be "high pee-ers" which means they just spray their pee on the side of the barrel, which trickles down under the pad that holds the litter. This is unfortunately maybe not the best litter box option if you do have a high pee-er, but since all of our girls squat to pee, we've not had a single leakage issue.Another issue I've read about folks having is that they're seeing their cats' leavings get smeared on the inside of the barrel. A good way to mitigate this is to just delay the automatic cleaning feature by ten minutes after every use, which can be done in the app. It does NOT affect the smell whatsoever, especially if you're using the correct litter! We are also using the PetKit mixed tofu litter with this box as I believe that using a product that was intended for use with another product is the best way to maximise the efficacy of it! I used to use Arm & Hammer SLIDE litter, but I've actually found that the PetKit tofu litter is like, WAY better by a mile, it doesn't track hardly anything, it removes odor completely, and it clumps super fast!If you don't have a high pee-er or a urine spraying cat, or if you have all female cats like we do, this litter box is a no-brainer. It's half the price of the leading automated litter box, much quieter, takes up less space, is nicer to look at, works better, like cmon! It really is a dream!Anyway, I'd grab this on sale if you can! 100000% worth the price!

Best automated litter box we've

used So we have 7 cats. Up to 8 at one time so having an automated litter box is a must for us. We used the ScoopFree for years and loved it but with the addition of cat #8 who was male, the ammonia smell was horrible and the constant cleaning of 4 boxes became a huge chore. Enter the first edition of the Petkit Pura X. We loved that box and had two, but it had some drawbacks that made it worth giving the Pura Max a shot. In the original, the used litter container was under the device so any time we had to pull it out to empty, used litter was scraped off the top of the container and went all over the floor and was smushed into the top of the litterbox frame. Yuck! While the odor control was significantly better than the ScoopFree, the mess it made each time we had to swap out the bag drove us nuts. When we saw the Pura Max become available through their IndieGo crowdfunding campaign promising all the flaws of the Pura X were fixed, we bit the bullet and bought one. We LOVED it! So when I saw Amazon now had the Pura Max available that I could get in 1 day instead of 6 months, I pulled the trigger on Pura Max #2.Here's what we like. Used litter storage is a CLOSED container so odor control is fantastic. The entrance to the Pura Max is closer to the floor so much easier for our kitties of all ages to get in an out. Because the used litter container is on the side, it's much easier to pull out to change the bag and NO mess! It's also so much quieter than our Pura X. Pura X isn't loud, but this thing is whisper quiet. They also fixed the issue with the box not recognizing that litter has been added instead of a cat being in the box. On the Pura X you have to unplug to add litter. With the Pura Max, you just hit the OK button twice when you add litter and it recalibrates. Brilliant! One note to users is that I have seen posted that wood litter isn't recommended. Oh contrare! We tried over 8 kinds of litter in this box including the recommended PetKit litter and we have come back to Okocat. We found their Super Soft, Featherweight or Regular works beautifully in this box. Just set the litter type to Tofu (the closest in weight) and say goodbye to litter odor.We could not be happier with this box. It is expensive but when you consider the time we were spending cleaning and disinfecting multiple cat boxes each week, and everything we were investing trying to get rid of the 'cats live here smell', this is a HUGE improvement and well worth the investment. Bravo PetKit!

Life changing!

This litter box was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made! I spent months and months researching about self cleaning litter boxes. They are a big investment and tbh, none of the options - previous to the Pura Max - seem like they are worth it.Last week I got back into researching and saw the Pura Max. I’m familiar with Pet Kit because I bought their automatic feeder a couple of years ago and so far, so good. I was a little hesitant of course, given than there were not that many reviews on Amazon. However, after watching YouTube videos with reviews, and reading the few comments here, I decided to pull the trigger. I couldn’t be happier I did! This litter box is amazing.Pros:- extremely quiet. I have it in my walk-in closet, and I can’t hear it from my bedroom.- spacious and comfortable for my cats. The inside looks smaller in videos, but in real life it’s more than enough.- big waste bin and it doesn’t smell. Love the fact that it includes the odor removal spray and it works automatically during each cleaning.- super cool design. I love the fact that the cats don’t have to make a big jump just to get in.- works perfectly with the app! As I previously mentioned, I have the PETKIT automatic feeder and since it’s a little old now, sometimes there’s conflict between the feeder and the app. However, the litter box is a whole other thing. It works PERFECTLY and it connected to the wifi super easy.Cons:- I only have one single con, and it’s the fact that the weight sensor doesn’t work properly - or simply doesn’t - work if the litter box is on carpet. That means that the litter box won’t sense when your cat(s) go inside, so it won’t automatically clean after each use, or it won’t weight the litter so it won’t also indicate if the litter level is too low. The manual does state that the litter box should be placed on a hard surface, but they don’t really explain anything about the weight sensor. I found out about the whole thing because of a YouTube video that someone posted with a review. She said she had that same issue and simply solved it by buying some floor tiles from Home Depot. I did the same (you can see the tiles in the picture) and it was the perfect solution. I think it’s important to mention this because as I said, PETKIT doesn’t really explain the possible issues with the weight sensor, so I’m sure a lot of people will think they got a defective litter box when that’s not really the case.Hope this review is helpful to those who have been thinking about getting a self cleaning litter box. This one is worth every penny. In my case, I travel a lot and have to pay a pet sitter to come every other day to clean the old regular litter boxes. Obviously, besides the fact that my cats would have “dirty” litter boxes for two days, the cost of having someone come every other day adds up. I’m sure I’ll recoup the investment by the end of this year.

Amazing!

We absolutely love it! After doing extensive research we’re really glad we settled on the Petkit litter box. We made sure to switch out our litter to a more absorbent natural litter and we found that corn litter works great! Tracking is minimal, the robot is extremely quiet, looks more sleek and tidy compared to the competitors, and it’s so easy to use.All our kitties adjusted so well after we mixed some of their old litter into the robot (we use a mixture of corn litter and clay). They were intimidated at first, but after turning the robot off for a day and letting them use it without the automatic cleaning function. It worked out flawlessly! Now they don’t mind the automatic cleaning and have had no accidents.Only thing is after a few days there is the slightest smell omitting from the trash compartment prior to it being full. So we sprinkled deodorizing crystals and the smell is completely gone.
